desert imagery for cover art on vinyl album

Max Drescher is a California-based indie music artist who needed art direction for the release of three singles. He wanted to release three singles that would lead to a possible EP. I suggested that the cover art for the singles be styled cohesively in case they going to be grouped under an EP release. The artist asked for each image to have a bright and warm color scheme paired with an eye-catching font playing a prominent role and would match the sound of the songs.

In my explorations, I experimented with both photography and illustration-based directions. After listening to each song, I felt that a sense of adventure was the unifying theme. We ultimately went with the photography-based artwork that was rooted in the outdoors. The chosen imagery for each song was reminiscent of motifs from the lyrics and the overall mood set by each. For the type treatment, I chose a clean, futuristic sans serif but styled each differently. A textured gradient approach with warm hues also tied the overall visual identity of the artwork collectively together.
